Question

Anyone got idea about this situation.

Three years ago i moved with my wife from Portugal to live in Brussels .
My wife now works full time and i have only a par time job .
Since two months she told me that she has decided to buy a property in her name in Belgium without me .
so she went on with it .

last Friday i received a letter from the creditor asking me to sign a document to confirm that I'm awarer that my wife is taking .
a loan from them.
I haven't sign the document yet but i need to know what are the implications if I signing the document .
in case of default or something ells happen.

Thanks in advance.

Isabella

If I am not mistaken, by Belgian law, your wife cannot take up a loan without your consent. If for any reason she stops paying the loan, they still chase you. I have a girlfriend whose husband stopped paying his debts and eventhough they were separated, they emptied her house to recover some of the debt. Very nasty indeed and I hope others with more knowledge respond to your question. Good luck and where I come from they say "you have to be extremely careful where you put your p..s and your signature".
