Allocation Naissance/Kraamgeld

Question

hello,

If your spouse is working at one of the EU institutions and you yourself are working in the private sector are you entitled to get the the allocation naissance/kraamgeld upon the birth of your child. I asked the Dr to sign the papers, but she was unsure whether it was a good idea as she thought it might then disqualify for any benefit received from the Institution.

I would be very grateful for any responses

J

Ask the personnel department at the institution.

They get paid for it.

You should indeed claim what you are entitled to from your own employer/State contributions. Your spouse will be asked to declare what you receive (they should have declared your employment status already - they are obliged to do so). The Institutions will pay your spouse the allowance due to them MINUS what you receive from your employer/the State.
It is very important you do this - otherwise you will lose out.
Good luck with your baby.
