Americans finding bankers in Belgium

Question

I am a US citizen living in Belgium searching for a bank in Belgium who will work with me to invest some assets. I have been turned down by several already because they do not want the administrative headache of complying with the FATCA reporting regulations imposed by the IRS. Does anyone know any banks who would take me on as a client? I have also seen adverts from a UK company called London & Capital that claims to specialize in servicing US citizens living abroad. Anyone have any dealings with them? Thanks.

hi!
did you try and inquire at the Citybank?

Citibank is no longer active in Belgium, they sold to BeoBank and all their branches are now BeoBank.

I don't have any investments here, but ING is happy to have me as a banking client, as are BeoBank and Triodos, you could try them. I was turned down by AXA at one point...

There's also a Bank of America/Merrill Lynch branch in Antwerp that does only investments/trading. Never tried using them before, though, so can't say how much help they'll be.

Thanks for the suggestions. The local banks like ING are happy to give me a current or savings account, which I have opened to pay my bills and use the cash machines, but they will not allow me to purchase a Sicav or make any other type of investment. I'll try the BoA/ML branch in Antwerp as I was not aware of it. Any other suggestions are very welcome.
