Antwerp named world’s most beautiful station
Antwerp’s Central Station was recently rated number one in a list of the world’s most beautiful train stations, according to the British-American independent news website Mashable.
In the article, ‘All Aboard! 12 Beautiful Railway Stations From Around the World’, writer Dennis Green explains that while “most people do not associate their public transportation with a work of art… there are places across the globe that take you into another world,” and Antwerp tops the list.
“This monstrous railway station features four separate levels of trains,” writes Green. “Its beauty is so unique, experts have difficulty assigning it an architectural style.”
Antwerp is followed by 11 other railway stations around the world, including T-Centralen Station, Stockholm, Sweden (2nd), Dubai Metro, Dubai, U.A.E (3rd) and St. Pancras Railway Station, London (4th).
Rounding out the list at number 12 is another Belgian station, Liege-Guillemins Station, Liege, for its “famous white spines”.
