Apply for work permit..

Question

Hello,

I will be receiving my "f card" permanent visa (valid for 5 years, renewable) this Thursday. I am wondering about the procedures for receiving a work permit in Belgium.

Is it the employer's obligation to apply for it on my behalf? Is it even required that I have one if I have the f card?

Thanks for any insight.

IF you have an F card, it signifies you are exercising the same EU treaty rights as your spouse. So long as your spouse remains in Belgium you continue to exercise you treaty rights and you need no work permit. All you give any employer is your national number and a copy of your passport and F card.
