Audi and VW cheating software

Question

Hi,
I have a 2011 model Audi A1. The car also had the famous VW cheating software.
Very recently I went to the Audi dealer for 140.000 km maintenance.
Everything was okay and they told me that they have also removed the software. Couple of days after that, my car started to not to accelerate over 100km and consume the fuel much quicker than before. I returned back to the dealer. After investigating 2 days they have told me that the clutch is dead and that's why the car does not accelerate and consume more fuel.
Now they are asking for EUR 2500 to repair the clutch. I left the car at the dealer until I figure out what to do. What I want to know is if anyone had similar experience after the software update. And if anybody has any recommendation. Thx.

J

Software does not kill a clutch. If you've had it from new, 140k on one clutch is very good going. It's the 140k that has worn out the clutch. You need a new one.

do you think a worn clutch can be the reason for the car to not to accelerate over 100km/h and consume fuel faster ?

Yes. The clutch is slipping at higher speeds and needs urgent replacement. If you don't have it replaced/repaired, you risk writing off the gear box and possibly other expensive items which will make € 2.500 look like a bargain.

My only surprise is that it wasn't picked up during the 140.000 km service, particularly if that service was carried out by a franchised dealer.

As I didn't trust the D'Ieteren service, I took the car to another official dealer. They diagnosed EGR system failure. I googled and found that after the software fix it is a very common to experience this failure and in UK, VAG is refunding the expenses. Long story short never VAG never D'Ieteren again,
