BBC Four cancelled by Proximus TV
Have you checked carefully that it has gone altogether and not just moved. The BBC management's decision to cease digital broadcasts of BBC3 (it became a web-only channel) but retain BBC4 seems to have caused some confusion among the Belgian rebroadcasters, probably compounded by misunderstandings about the differences between CBBC and CBeebies children's TV broadcasts.
Contacted Proximus today and have been formally informed that effective 1 September BBC Four is no longer in the programme package. This, I was informed, has nothing to do with Proximus but is a decision by the BBC!
Seems to me a bit of a curious interpretation of the media laws.
We have always used Belgacom/proximus for Internet and Voo for television (since before Belgacom tv existed). Have had all the BBC channels as part of the basic package. Over the last few year we get phone calls from Proximus to try and persuade us to change to their television too but as BBC 3 and 4 were only available if we paid extra for a separate bouquet we always said no. Still with VOO still have BBC4 and the 2 children's channels.
What program are you on? we only get BBC 1 and 2 here on the basic plan never had anything else
Yes, Proximus Info confirms that BBC4 has "disappeared" - without warning or explanation - from the various bouquets. A shame, as it's often worth watching. On the other hand, VOO's site still lists BBC4 as one of its channels. If that's true, the "disappearance" from Proximus is presumably not a BBC decision. But as the VOO site still also lists BBC3, the site may simply be out of date. Maybe we should get together and press Proximus to restore BBC4. A campaign for the Bulletin?
VOO certainly still transmits BBC4 in Wallonie and therefore presumably in Bruxelles too.
During the day it is CBBC and then later on it changes to BBC4 when the children's channel finishes. The space for BBC3 is still used during the day by CBeebies
I think BBC4 is only available online now- even in the UK.
