Belgian Customer Service
Simply put, why is the level of customer service so poor in Belgium? It is evident in so many areas of business (restaurants, retail, service, anything...) As members of the expat community we hear many others from different areas of the world complain about this very thing while in Belgium? Seems like no culture would want to be known as a culture that doesn't have concern for their customer's experience. Any thoughts?
I don't think it's any worse or better than anywhere else in Europe I've lived.
I don't think it's particularly better in the UK, although Itend to take this sort of thing with a pinch of salt, to be honest:

You do tend to get much better service in the US, though.
But expats enjoy a good whinge - all over the world :-)
I agree that the client service is very poor in Belgium by comparison to other countries and that this tends to be a general issue in the different areas of business.
I believe its a question of education, in the sense that belgium people has the tradition of standing for their rights as workers, but not at all as customers, creating a position where the workers are more important than clients.
In other countries they have a popular saying that "the client is king". Here the client is seen as someone that annoys you.
