Belgian Nationality

Question

Has anyone applied Belgian citizenship recently? I have applied in late September last year, and almost 4 months over got no news so far. what is the average wait time for this process? I heard within 4 months I should get some decision.

Thanks for sharing some ideas

Peikko

Got mine about a year and a half ago and it took about 2 years (even though they had told me that as a European national it would take 3-4 months...)

Thanks PEIKKO, had you been to your commune to enquire after 4 months ? if so, what did they say about it? or you just simply waited 2 years?

If it's the accellerated 4-month procedure that you've followed, I recently had a report that it was 4 months and 1 day.

They have 4 months to turn it down. If that doesn't happen (i.e. the commune hears nothing), then the commune will contact you.

Thanks J. No one told me about the accelerated procedure during my application so i followed the checklist provided by commune. Now, what-if my commune wont contact me in coming few months? Should I go and ask the status of it?

The accelerated process is only one of processes you can chose. There are several others. Your commune may or may not have advised you on the best one to follow for your circumstances/nationality.

You should follow up with the commune.

Thanks PEIKKO, Yesterday received letter from Commune for the positive decision. SO in my case it took 4 months and 1 week.
