Belgium is European leader in IS fan tweets

Nowhere in Europe are so many tweets posted in favour of terror organisation IS as in Belgium, writes Die Welt, based on a wide-scale analysis of international Twitter updates. The study shows that one in three positive tweets about IS comes from a Belgian Twitter account.

Outside of Europe, Qatar leads the pack in terms of number of IS fan tweets, followed by Pakistan. Belgium comes in third place on a global scale.

Security services in Western Europe do not pay enough attention to Twitter because they believe it lacks credibility, according to the German newspaper. However, the social networking tool provides an easy way to seek out where the highest number of IS sympathizers are found, says Die Welt.
