Boarding school in UK

Question

I and my child acquired Belgian Citizenship a year ago.
Now I want to send my 10 years old child to a STATE boarding school in UK.
I would like to know the following from any Belgian or non-British European who is living in Belgium but child(ren) is/are studying in UK. May be a British can also suggest.

1) Do I need to inform the current Commune in Belgium? As such the child is still my responsibility and there is no need to deregister. Moreover the child is Belgian.

2) Will the child be still covered by the Belgian insurance (mutualité & Hospitalisation)? I would like to have this information from someone's personal experience before asking the same to the current insurance company.

3) Anything else?

Thanks a lot.

I

1) no you don't inform the commune but yes you'll receive a form from the French or Flemish community at some point asking why your child is no longer registered at school in Belgium. You simply get a certificate / ask the school to fill in the form stating that term time your child is in the UK.

2) yes the child will be covered by the NHS in the UK, for free I may add, whilst also being covered when the child returns here.

3) Belgian schools rate higher on average than UK schools.
