boo hoo my new mobib monthly

Question

omg I just purchased a monthly mobib card last week for 57euro approx. It wont work today - please dont tell me that its up for renewel at the first day of every month - I cannot believe that. Nowhere did it warn/informl me that - though I googled it inside out. I feel like an xpat clown! Ill try it again later, maybe im wrong about my suspicions.

No - it's a full calendar month.

Take it to a stib kiosk and explain that it's not working.

happened to me as well.
those cards to get easily demagnetized.
however your purchase records are in the mobib computers so they can replace your card keeping the same credit.

I am still in amazement at the experience I had recently at the STIB Bootik at De Brouckere. I had to wait all of 1 minute, and they replaced my old, non-working MOBIB card in about 2 minutes, identical to the old one. I was, and am, flabbergasted that it was so easy. That said, I wouldn't expect it again.

The old paper monthly tickets were for one calendar month, ie if bought in the last week of September, they would only be good for a week, not until the third week of October (so, indeed, the OP would have lost out). Has that changed under MOBIB? I only buy 10-ride tickets these days.

yes it is changed. now it is valid 30 days from the date you buy it.

also it is pretty easy to change card since all your datas (and photos) are already stored in their computer. nothing to be amazed about, just that some things finally reach the normal stage of modernity in here!
