Book Club

Question

Hi everyone,
I moved to Brussels at the start of the year, and wanted to join a book club. I’ve looked around but haven’t found that much; Bozar has an English-language reading group, but it seemed a bit highbrow (and you have to pay to attend…). Given that’s there’s not much else out there I thought I’d attempt to start my own book club and wondered if anyone is interested in joining (otherwise it won’t be much of a club.)

It wouldn’t be much of a departure from the traditional book club: choose a book (preferably but not exclusively novels), meet monthly in a café that’s not too busy; assume everyone has read the book; discuss said book while sipping lattes/avoiding the lure of calorie-laden muffins :D Obviously people are more and more busy these days, so maybe we shouldn’t have any 1,000-page whoppers on our reading lists, but otherwise everything else is on the table.

If you’re interested or have any questions or book recommendations, please send me an e-mail at sam_arcenciel@hotmail.com. I’m hoping to find 4 or 5 other people that might be interested. I think it will be a great way to discuss some interesting literature and to meet like-minded people.

About me: I’m 25, English and work as a translator/interpreter

Hi Sam,

Did anything ever come of this? I'd still be interested.

Thanks,

Hannah
