With Saint Nicholas festivities fast approaching, Bpost is getting ready to sort the hundreds of thousands of letters sent to the children’s patron saint in November.

This year, postal workers will assist him in the mammoth task of receiving wish lists, drawings, crafts and more, reports RTBF.

Around 350,000 letters are sent in each year in the hope of getting a reply and a present from the popular saint.

If children would like a written response and gift from St Nicholas before 6 December, they need to provide a return address on the back of the envelope and send their cards before 29 November, reminded Bpost. “However, Saint Nicholas will also still respond to letters sent in after the deadline,” it added.

Schools can also participate. Teachers simply need to write a letter and send it in accompanied by letters and drawings from the students.

It’s important to note that the address in French is Saint-Nicolas, Rue du Paradis 1 – 0612 Ciel. In Dutch, it's Sinterklaas, Spanjestraat 1, 0612 Hemel. Letters don’t need to be stamped and can be deposited in any letter box.
