Brother printer/scanner giving me grief!
Question
I recently switched from using wifi to connect Brother printer/scanner to laptop by using the cable and USB connection to laptop. This solved the constant "printer offline" message and now I can print. Now though the scanner doesn't want to work! And message is that it's waiting for previous thingy to finish ... Can anyone please give me step by step instructions to overcome the bother with my Brother?

Heep-o-shite throw it away and buy HP. Or Dell.
Make sure your drivers are up to date, if necessary uninstall it and reinstall to get it to let you scan.
