Bruges is 12th most expensive city to spend the night in
An overnight stay in Bruges costs more on average than in metropolitan cities such as London, Paris or Hong Kong, according to a study by GoEuro. The German start-up provides a travel search engine for Europe that compares and combines air, rail, bus and car rental options.
GoEuro compared the prices of more than 60,000 hotels and other accommodation in 150 cities. It looked at all levels of hotels, youth hostels and accommodation via Airbnb.
Bruges comes in 12th in the list of 150 cities, with an average price of €105 per night for double occupancy. The second most-expensive city in Belgium for accommodations, Namur, is well below that at €70 a night, followed by Ghent (€69), Liège (€63) and Antwerp (€62). Brussels clocked in at an average €60 a night.
The most expensive city in the world to spend the night is New York, at €198 per night, and the least expensive city for a luxury hotel is Antalya in Turkey, where tourists pay an average of €56 per night for five stars.
The most expensive hotels, meanwhile, can be found in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with an average price of €1,061 per night.
