Bruksellive festival is no more after 11 years

The free summer festival Bruksellive has run its course, according to the event’s organisers, and will not be taking place this year.

“After 11 beautiful years, the organisation behind the Bruksellive festival have decided to come up with something new,” reads a statement on the festival’s Facebook page.

“Over the past couple of years it became obvious that the magnitude of the festival was becoming too big of a commitment for an ever changing group of volunteers. That is why there won’t be a Bruksellive this year.”

Instead, a new group of volunteers will create a fresh concept for the festival, all the while retaining its commitment to being green.

Brukesellive began in 2005 in Osseghem Park and then the Théâtre de Verdure in Laeken. The 2015 edition attracted 12,000 people.

Festival organisers signed-off with the message: “We expect to see all of you next summer, so keep an eye out on social media.”
