Brussels Airlines pilots call off planned strike
Pilots for Brussels Airlines have called off their planned strike after reaching an agreement with management on a reduced workload.
The agreement “improves the work-life balance of our pilots and at the same time guarantees the competitiveness of Brussels Airlines,” the company said in a press release.
Pilots gave notice at the end of November that they were planning a strike from 11 December, a typically busy time for travel given the winter holidays.
Cabin crew staff had also given a strike notice but already withdrew it after it was met with a proposal from management.
Olivier Van Camp of the BBTK union said that this new agreement for pilots would make working hours “more bearable”, calling it “a good agreement with a huge improvement in safety”.
Airline staff have been overwhelmed in the post-pandemic years with an increase in workload and, in many cases, a decrease in staff.
