Brussels-City museums open for free during school holidays
Brussels-City is opening its museums free of charge to visitors from 26 December to 9 January, following the government’s decision to close down all indoor cultural venues, except museums.
The museums concerned are the Brussels City Museum (The King’s House), the GardeRobe MannekenPis, the Fashion and Lace Museum, the Sewer Museum and the CENTRALE for contemporary art.
Brussels-City announced its action in a press release on Thursday, deploring the consultative committee’s latest restrictions on the beleagured cultural sector.
“Culture is essential to our mental health. The public needs culture, escape, discovery. Museums being the only open cultural places, we want to make them accessible to as many people as possible. This is why I have decided to exceptionally apply free admission to the museums of the City of Brussels during the school holidays," said culture city councillor Delphine Houba (PS).
