Brussels North is Belgium’s busiest train station
More than 61,000 commuters use North Station in Brussels every weekday, making it the busiest train station in the country. The figure comes from SNCB, which has released the results of this year’s passenger count.
Brussels’ other two main train stations – Central and South – come in second and third in the country respectively. Central Station sees some 59,300 passengers on an average weekday, while South gets 58,500.
When it comes to weekends, however, South Station is the most popular in Belgium, followed by Gent-Sint-Pieters. The latter is also number four during the week. Antwerp Central rounds out the top five for busiest weekday station.
At the other end of the spectrum is the Hourpes stop in Hainaut province, which sees the least number of passengers – an average of four a day. Of Belgium’s 549 train stops, there are seven with fewer than 20 passengers on weekdays.
