Lord Rochester, the stage name of Russ Wilkins - known from Medway bands such as The Pop Rivets, The Milkshakes, Gruff Men, Len Bright Combo and (in Scotland) The Wildebeests - returns with his unmistakable brand of stripped-down, rhythm-driven rock ’n’ roll. Drawing inspiration from the maraca-powered shuffle of artists like Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and Jimmy Reed, Lord Rochester embraces the raw simplicity of sound and song, delivering a gritty, lo-fi take on rock ’n’ roll that stays close to its roots. The band makes a welcome return to BRBC after recent tours across Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Alaska and Spain, and following the release of their third album, “Mess Around”. Russ is accompanied by Saskia Holling on bass and Lois Tozer on drums.

BRBC houseband Midnight Mary will open the concert, performing their popular R'n'B repertoire, featuring classics by Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed, Bo Diddley, Elmore James, Junior Wells, Link Wray, Big Mama Thornton, Otis Redding, Al Green and others.

After the concert there is a late blues jam hosted by Roman until 2am.

Toots Jazz Club serves a variety of excellent beers, wines and cocktails. Note: standing-room concert, no guaranteed seating, to allow room for dancing.
