Brussels rubbish collections affected by today's strike

09:04 21/09/2022

A nationwide day of strike action in Belgium is affecting household waste collections in seven of Brussels' 19 municipalities.

A walkout by staff at Bruxelles Propreté means bin bags are not being collected on Wednesday in parts of Brussels-City, Auderghem, Etterbeek, Ixelles, Saint-Josse, Schaerbeek and Watermael-Boitsfort.

Residents who find their rubbish has not been collected today are being asked to bring their bin bags back inside, where possible, and put them out again on the next collection day.

In most of the affected communes this is Saturday for white bin bags and next Wednesday for blue, yellow, green and orange.

In Brussels-City, Etterbeek and Ixelles, the affected areas are those in the immediate vicinity of Rue Belliard in the EU district.

In Schaerbeek, the affected streets are those near the border with Evere - and vice versa. Roads bordering Woluwe-Saint-Pierre and Auderghem are also impacted by the strike.
