Buying an apartment - abattement
Question
I'm buying an apartment and I'm just unsure of one thing - the abattement of the registration fees I have to pay (Brussels region). I know that I have to pay 12.5%, but get an abattement on the first 60000 of purchase price. But is this deducted immediately from the money I will transfer to the notaire, or do I need to pay the full amount and receive the abattement refunded to me at a later stage?

You pay a fixed fee to your notaris. It doesn't matter how many extra questions you ask them, the price you pay remains the same.
The price does indeed remain the same, extortionate. So yes, get what you can out of these rich leaches who have their income protected by the Law.
