buying ebooks

Received a kindle for xmas and trying to buy an ebook form amazon. So - amazon.co.uk apparently only lets UK customers buy kindle books, so that does not apply to me. There is no amazon here, and the FR one seems to not have a kindly store.

So how does one buy an ebook here?
