Car trip to Nürnberg -- best route?
Looks like I'll have to go by car from Brussels to Nürnberg, Germany, leaving around 15-16 in the afternoon this Friday. Plane, train or any other form of transport are -- unfortunately -- out of the question.
Any experienced expats willing to share the best route for this trip? The shortest route according to Google Maps seems to go around Köln, Bonn and Frankfurt, three potential traffic jams to my untrained eye, especially on a summer Friday afternoon/evening. Am I right or wrong? Any alternative routes?

Koln might be busyish by the time you get there. The only other risk of delays would be an accident, and you can't really plan too much for those.

Even if there is a jam, it's unlikely that trying to avoid it will get you there any faster - change the time and you risk changing where the jams are, change the route and bypassing a jam usually takes longer than sitting through it.
Take a good map and use the traffic function on your radio.
