Chimney /fireplace issue
Hi
We bought a house with an open fireplace and a stove.
There is a closed cover over the firepoace (inside the chimney) which we cannot open, and therefore we cannot light the fire.
Also not sure if its safe to use the fireplace or stove as not sure if chimeys are clean/unblocked.
Can anyone recommend a person who can check this out and help us get the fireplace and stove sorted for use in time for Christmas??

Your best bet is someone local.
The guys we use also do the boiler and radiators as well as the chimney.
You need to make sure you get the right certificate that the chimney and boiler have been checked I think.
Last year our neighbours chimney blew up and because it wasn't checked it wasn't covered under insurance. There is a lesson to be learned in that I guess.
