Coaching for High School student

Question

Hi,
Our daughter, in the 10th grade, is reasonably intelligent and works very hard but has not been doing too well in school. She is starting to get frustrated. We suspect that it may have to do with the way she studies - maybe learning by heart instead of understanding things. Of course we could be wrong but we want to get her some kind of study counsellor to help her in her studies and maybe discover if she is doing anything wrong. Any idea on how/where to find such a guide?
Thanks

What school is she at - language of study etc.... courses needed help in?
Our daughter Grade 11 had a tutor last year for a few months. She was not a professional, but I think that helped since they were more informal . The tutor was an English native with a Master of Law from KU Leuven so was familiar with both systems. By far more economical and fun for my girl.
Have you asked the school?

She is in a Dutch school and going the Latin/Maths stream. We are not looking for a subject tutor but someone other than parents to guide her in her studies. Fun and economical sounds great. Would you be willing to share contact information of the tutor you had? You can email me at a07wood at yahoo dot com. thanks
