D-Day rememberation
I see D-Day is remembered today - 70 years.
I had a relative that died 8 July 1944, and we know little about how, where etc other than what's listed on: http://www.fallenheroesphotos.org
I have his Rank, Service Number, Place of Burial and Regiment. But that's it.
Maybe one of you out there has investigated a relative and can give me a few pointers on how to go about acquiring additional knowledge - maybe some forums or websites?

The more information you have, the better.
However, the one piece that you have is all important and the only one you really need, provided that it is correct. That is his Service Number, it is his unique identity. You should approach the appropriate arm of service, Army, RN or RAF [e.g. http://www.army.mod.uk/welfare-support] and they can give you a complete service history, there is a small fee.
Also the War Graves Commision [www.cwgc.org] can be of use, but then your have that detail.
