Deregistering from the Brussels Commune
Question
Does anyone know how long *before* the actual departure date one can deregister at the Brussels Commune (ie, 1000)? I have time to go to the commune about two weeks before my departure, but want to avoid going there just to be told I am there too early. Phones/emails generally go unanswered at this particular commune, so thought I would check here. Thanks!
At a guess you de-register when you leave and not before. However, if you're a Belgian tax payer too, you can request the forms to complete an early tax return 3 months before leaving, so you could get a head start there, 3 months to submit the tax return after leaving.
15 days, they give you a letter that you have de-registered with a validity of 15 days
