Does anyone know where I can dispose of empty gas cylinders. I took them to the Overijse containerpark/dump this weekend but they do not accept gas cylinders.
any advice would be appreciated

There's usually a (large) caution on gas cylinders, so take them back to where you got them, or to a place where they sell the same shaped cylinder, and swap them for cash.
