Driving Licence

Question

Hi,
I need to provide my new car insurance with the issue date of my driving licence. Problem is... I exchanged my (Irish) licence for a Belgian one 3 years ago at the Commune (Schaarbeek), and never thought to keep a copy. Does anyone know whether it is just a case of going to the Commune and asking them to check in their files... or otherwise?

If Schaarbeek's system is anything like Etterbeek's then they will still have your Irish licence somewhere in a drawer in the commune, ready for them to dig out if needs be.
In any case, the date when your Irish licence was first issued should have been copied onto your new Belgian licence - it is printed in a box next to the relevant vehicle category.
