Electricity consumption yearly.
We live in a 50 m2 apartment in Leuven. We have electric heating. Only one bedroom. Normally, we use heating only in the living room which is around 25m2. we have a boiler and induction which may be consuming more electricity. Last year we consumed 3014KWH.
My question is, is this way too much? We are thinking of moving in summer to another apartment with gas heating.
Can anyone share their annual consumption? and their experience with gas heating. I would request to share me the real difference with numbers. I have checked previous comments I didn't find any with proper number.
Thank You!
There is nothing you can do about what you have already consumed. Gas should be cheaper for heating and water. You need to check the new apartment carefully and what the deal is. Often electricity is at 2 rates, day and night. Ultimately it’s up to you to ensure you don’t use power when you are out, that thermostats are well controlled etc.
Look up something like / or a variation of "consommation moyenne d'électricité en Belgique"
Depending on the statistics and source, you'll find that a family of two adults and one child on average use something around 3 500 - 4 000 kWh. However, that doesn't include electric heating.
Heating in particular will depend massively on 1) the construction materials / insulation and design of your apartment building and 2) the age and efficiency of your electrical installation.
This is quite a useful page:

As for your move, yes, Gas is generally more efficient and cheaper than Electric, however, especially if you live in an apartment, there are plenty of other factors that can impact your heating bills.
