English Teacher Qualification in Belgium
Hello,
I am an English teacher, moved to Belgium recently. I am from India. I have a bachelor degree in English. I am thinking of doing a TEFL course in Belgium mainly CELTA. Is it accepted in Flemish region? I am in process of getting the equivalent of my certificates from NARIC. I am not sure whether CELTA is accepted by private language schools or international schools. Am I suppose to have any other certificates to get a job as English Teacher?
CELTA is a globally recognized qualification for teaching English as a foreign language. It will be recognized by pretty much any language school in the world.
Just as an FYI, as it's not totally clear from your question; this is absolutely not the same as being an English teacher in a primary or secondary school.
The system for teacher accreditation in Belgium will be different depending on what language region you live in as education is a responsibility of the regions. Once you have passed your CELTA qualification you will also need 500 hours of practical experience, plus 8 years of fluent Dutch or French so you can write school reports.
