Exact selling an automobile procedure?

Question

I went to autokeuring, and I got the car-pass, red paper, and other stuff. but they stamped the DIV certificatesaying "geldig tot 25/05/15" . If I'm right, that means it's invalid afterwards. so what if I can't sell it in this period? how do I apply for a new one?

and also, what happens to my insurance when I sell the car? can I transfer it to the next car?

Most people don't go to CT until they have a buyer to avoid that they have to go again if it doesn't sell on time. Your insurance will guide you through changing the car on the policy once you buy another one.

Normally, you agree the sale, and you will get the CT done while the buyer gets you the money.

Insurance - talk to your broker. You would normally carry on your existing insurance contract.

And if you sell the car trade, they often don't need a CT.

thanks for your responses. I'm still unclear on what happens when this "Kentekenbewijs" is invalidated. do I have to request a new one from DIV? and if yes, how should I do that? please note that this is different from the "Keuringbewijs" which is valid until next year.

It seems that I messed up the whole procedure!

If you haven't sold the car before the 25 May, you will have to go through the whole process again - or sell to a dealer who doesn't need the certificate.

You will have to go through the whole process again before you can sell the car to a private individual but not on 25 May. So long as you have a valid standard CT you can continue to drive until you have arranged a sale. Normally you get the 'selling' CT done after a sale is agreed.
