Famous Belgian chocolate maker Leonidas turns 100
The 100th anniversary of the Belgian chocolate brand Leonidas was celebrated in Brussels City Hall this week, in the presence of descendants of the founder Leonidas Kestekides. The celebration included a presentation by managing director Robert Torck, who gave attendees an overview of the fascinating history of the brand, a concert by Belgian musician Axelle Red and a demonstration by master chocolatier Claude Sénèque (pictured). Sénèque has been with Leonidas for almost forty years and has witnessed first-hand the evolution of the company from small family business to today's internationally renowned company that exports more than 1 million chocolates daily to countries around the world. Even Brussels' famous landmark, Manneken Pis, was dressed as chocolatier for the occasion.
