Fewer trains to and from Brussels Airport station during rail infrastructure overhaul

Fewer trains will be operating to and from Brussels Airport between 3 and 18 October while Infrabel carries out work on the infrastructure of the station.

No direct trains will be running to and from the Zaventem airport to Hasselt, Leuven, Liège, Namur and Dinant during this period, reports Bruzz. These passengers can change trains at Brussels-North station.

There are also temporarily no direct trains from Knokke; passengers can change trains at Brussels-Midi.

From Antwerp, Bruges, Brussels, Ghent and the European quarter in Brussels, direct trains are still running to and from Brussels Airport, but less than usual.

During the duration of the works, more trains will stop at Zaventem station. Passengers can transfer to bus lines R26 and 82 of De Lijn with their train ticket. These buses run to the airport several times an hour and take six minutes to arrive.

SNCB advises travellers to plan their journey allow extra time for travel to and from Brussels Airport. More information can be found on its website.

During the day, from 6.00 22.00, Infrabel will be renewing the fire protection system and replacing some of the tunnel lighting and cable ducts at the station located beneath the passenger terminal.

The Belgian rail operator will also be treating  the walls of the Nossegem tunnel of the Diabolo connection against seeping moisture.

At night, between 22.00 and 6.00, 3.5 kilometres of overhead lines is due to be renewed.
