Filing joint tax return?

Question

Hi,
I work for a Belgian registered company, so filing taxes is (relatively) easy - I just fill out following the fiche I get sent. I still do it on paper

However, I am getting married soon and I am wondering, in the future, do I need to file a joint return with my spouse? My spouse works for the institutions, so the situation is a bit different also. For me the easiest would be to continue as I always have, is this smart?/allowed?

Thank you in advance for all answers

J

Ask personnel or one o the unions within the institution. Common situation.

I appreciate your answer, but I need a bit more specifics :-) How do other married couples handle this in Belgium, eg is it a 'requirement' to file jointly if you are married?

We're in that situation and we both do our own tax declarations. I've actually never questioned it as we both receive separate forms to be filled in (for more than 15 years now). My husband does it electronically, I do it on paper.
