French language A2
A question that is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string.
The answer is that it takes as many hours for you to learn French to A2 (or any other) standard as it takes you. A lot will depend on your aptitude for languages and the amount of active exposure you get to it - something that is particularly important for acquisition of vocabulary. Your age will be a factor too, the younger you are, the more quickly you will learn - you will reach A2 standard in less than a couple of months if you are under 5 years of age!
That said, A2 standard isn't particularly demanding, it is really a "get by in French" rather than a "speak French" level.
A2 is achieved after taking the "breakthrough" and "waystage" courses and passing 50%.
If you took these 2 courses at CVO Lethas for example, it's 120 hours, 4 half days / 12 hours a week over 2 months for 1 course, so 2 courses would be 4 months in total, doing 12 hours a week. Your ability to pass depends as said above on your aptitute and attitude. So count on 240 hours of study for these average speed courses.
It depends on you really im currently on a course its three mornings a weeks for three hours each time. I had to sit a french test before to set the level. If you have no french its hard the class will give some skills but you have to be able to both speak and write in fench to pass. Some people especilly those with none belgian alphabets styles struggled with the writting and some who speak it well but havent learnt the written from for example moroccian are in my class because they cant write. If you are good at learbing languages and study its is possible to achieve but so much depends on where you start from and your ability to study and learn
The good news is that the progression between A1 and A2 is faster than between B2 and C1. If A2 is your objective, you should aim at twice a week at least. Gong beyond 3 times a week can become counter-productive, seeing as you wouldn't have enough time to digest all the new information. Other factors such as the way your teacher/school obviously also play a role.
