Good Psychiatrist in Brussels area?
Hi, does anyone know or can recommend a good Psychiatrist based in the Brussels area?
I'm looking for one who knows about Effexor and isn't a pill pusher (not a salesman for the pharmaceutical industry). I've tried the CHS but they have limited experience so I need a good reliable Psychiatrist who speaks english (doesn't have to be perfect skills but good enough to understand what help I need).
Any help or advice welcome... either for Psychiatrists or help groups...
thanks
Elizabeth
If CHS cannot help, I suggest you consult your GP.
Any psychiatrist should know Effexor because it has been on the market for over 15 years. Just beware of the drawbacks of interpreting a doctor who is willing to prescribe what you ask for as being a better psychiatrist and not a pill pusher.
I would agree with YTTAP, you should ask your GP.
Or else, try the psychiatric departments at any one of the large university hospitals in Brussels, for example;

Any serious medical professional (especially at the university hospitals) in Belgium is going to speak English. To get anywhere in the medical profession beyond being a generalist or junior doctor, you need to have a good command of English, as most of the research journals, medical texts and medical conferences are in English.
Do not be so sure of all specialists speak English. I have opposite experience. They avoid speaking all together and they do not explain anything. Make sure the doctor you will go speaks English properly.
Dr Ben Yahyaten. He's working in a the City Clinic, avenue Louise.
Very professional.
