Question

Looking for a recommended foot surgeon performing micro surgery on hallux rigidus, preferably at a public hospital.

The orthopaedic team at Clinique Leopold - Drs Blondiau, Gombault, Maldague. A friend had both bunions operated at the same time and successfully by Dr Blondiau. Dr Maldague has treated me for a stress fracture of the foot, and operated on an ingrowing toenail (no pain, amazing).

ah yes, thanks for that, however i am looking for a specialist in a public (not private) hospital...

You can go for a consultation as a Mutuelle client, and ask for an estimate of how much it would cost for the operation. Nothing is free in The Belgian system but doctors may choose to keep as close as possible to the Mutuelle rates.

Thanks for that. I have been to partena, unfortunately they cannot give me a cost estimate.. in order to cut costs, they advised to stick to the university / public hospitals and to insist on not paying 'frais d'honoraire'/
I don't mind paying towards but am worried about landing a whopping fee.
Now i am looking for the right surgeon.
