head hunters and unemployment offices

Question

Two questions:

Where are the official unemployment offices for Brussels and Kraainem? What kinds of jobs can be found via them? Are they for lower jobs or can university graduates find descent jobs via them? Does anybody have an experience?

How can I find head hunters for jobs? Don't they see the ads like we do or do they have special connecting? How does it work?

Thanks for your advice and suggestions.

The employment and training agency for Flanders (hence Kraainem) is VDAB. I believe they list all manner of jobs. http://www.vdab.be/

depending on the type of work you're looking for these are the jobsites I have used and actually am currently using as I am looking for a new contract having just completed one:

Office type work: IT, Finance, Banking, Insurance, Secretarial, Admin etc 5I work in Banking/IT so mostly use these:

brusselsjobs.com
monster.be
euractiv.be (more focused on EU ans NGO work)
efinancialcareers.be (kinda self explanatory)
linkedin.be (not a jobsite as such, but register your CV so that agents searching linkedin can see your CV, I was in fact contacted by an agent today via my linked in profile)
references.be
stepstone.be

Less specialised work like horeca, admin, building, commercial...more Belgian focused than international generally:

jobsregion.be (basically the job ads you would see in the weekly Vlan)
actiris.be (I live in Brussels and I think this is the Walloon equivalent of vbad.be)

As for agents, I think all the above sites let you register your CV, and agents looking for a profile similar to yours can contact you. On the other hand a large proportion of the ads are published by agents in any case so your first port of call will be the agent anyway.

Good luck.

You don't find "head hunters" - they find you.

ALITTLERISKY has suggested a good list of sites that employment agencies use. No jobs for you on there = retraining time.
