How to start a social life in Brussels

Question

Hi all,
I will shortly be moving to Brussels from the Netherlands (although I'm British). I'm in my 30s and single, and I don't know anyone in the city. What are good ways to meet people and build a social life? I saw some groups on meetup.com and internations.org, so I'll give them a go. Any other good suggestions - I'm a fairly socialable type and am generally up for anything. My French and Dutch are bad, so for now it will have to be with English speakers!

there are a couple of facebook pages worth looking (Brussels Expats or Life in Belgium) where from time to time people organize stuff (or you could launch domething like gathering people for a beer for example).

couchsurfing brussels is also quite a cool place to meet people and there are events organized almost daily (language tables, hiking trips, dinners, pub visits etc)

I would second the post from MEHA above and say BUFC is a great starting point even if you are not a football fan.
They have about 250 members of all ages so have a large social network involving many activities

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like there's plenty going on in Brussels, and I won't be bored or lonely.
