ID waiting period

Question

Dear All,
something strange happened to my previous question, so I need to repost it. I'd like to ask what the waiting period is when you apply for a Belgian ID. The commune in question is Woluwe St. Pierre. I know one can pay an extra fee to accelerate the process, but I'd like to keep it regular.

Thanks in advance.

I think you are referring to a residents' card, not an ID card reserved for Belgians?

I have never heard of paying an additional fee for speeding up registration.

If you are a category which has an electronic card, well they are produced by a private company and require a pin and this takes up to a month to be made and returned to the commune.

Registering, if you are a straightforward case, should take less than 30 minutes, further visits to pick up residents' documents.

You should have asked at the commune. They will have told you.

A bribe? To a communal official in WSP?

> I'd like to keep it regular.
Just go along to the commune and do what they tell you. You will not get a "Belgian ID" unless you are Belgian. It's just a residence permit.

Forgive me, you're right - I put it in an awkward manner. I've asked about a card for EU citizens. I'm not Belgian and not applying to be.

Thanks!

Just for reference, it took me 6 weeks to get an appointment for the card, and then 5-6 weeks for it to be ready. For my spouse, the wait was 7 months for the card (An F Card versus an E Card).
