International Schools in Brussels
I found this website regarding ratings of international schools in Brussels. I was wondering how accurate it is?
http://www.internationalschoolsinbrussels.com/
How accurate is the site? Well as a simple starter:
- The scrolling headline under the picture says "Did you know : There are 15 International schools in Brussels"
- The text on the lower right of the page says : "Around 25 international schools are situated in Brussels"
- There are 21 schools listed on the site
- Of the 21 schools, a total of 11 have no ratings at all
As for the reviews;
- The top rated school (British School of Brussels) has 4 reviews by parents of current and former pupils.
- The second rated school (International School of Brussels) has one review by a current teacher.
I could go on, but I need to get back to work.
Oh and the "Curriculum", "Extracurricular", and "Contact" sections of the site for International School of Brussels show the information for St. Johns International School.
OK, I really do have to get back to work now.
Every school has its pros & cons, however reviews tend only to come from parents who have already put considerable effort into finding the right school for them, and therefore are extremely unlikely to be negative.
It is not the best way to do research.
It also misses out one of the most, or least important schools, depending on who you work for.
There are an abundance of international schools in Brussels. You will inevitably find the right one for your child if you yourself have a good idea of the the type of education you're looking for.
The Eurpopean school tends to be reserved for the children of parents working in the EU institutions. The ISB is a real international school and give the option of several high school diploma's. The Bristish school is also international but also very British and offers A-level courses.
Do your research, go visit the schools, speak to people, Enjoy!
Dears is it difficult to find a place at International schools?
> difficult to find a place
No - either you work for the right people of you have the money.
Interesting to see that a number of the errors I noted in my first two posts have miraculously been fixed. All within 24 hours !!! Makes you wonder if the initial question wasn't just planted to publicize the site?
What's also odd is that of the 15 reviews on the site, 10 of them were made over just three days, 2&3 of June and 3&4 July.
Assuming that the owners of the site are reading, I suggest that to make the site look a little more realistic, you should probably change the dates of the reviews you've posted, spread them out a bit over a wider date range, and try and change the style and language of the reviews to be less obviously manufactured.
They haven't worked out what that key school they missed out was yet though...
