Kids, their suitable accommodation when visiting
Hi all,
I have two kids a boy and a girl and they are of different ages, the girl being in her early teens.
I have a small one bedroom apartement and believe the law states (correct me if i am wrong) that due to the difference in sex and age they cannot sleep in the same bedroom - correct?
For the moment they use a kingsize sofa-bed in the living room as it is all i have.
Now there are reasons as to why my accommodation is of this status- i will not go into the reasons.
I basically want to do what is best for the interests of the children as staying in a small place has its moments and can be stressful at times.
Yes a 2 bedroom apt is the solution but due to reasons not explained this is not possible for the inital foreseeable future.
Many thanks!!!!!
Let's assume you're female. What age is the boy?
Girl sleeps with you, boy sleeps on the sofa.
I don't know that the law does say anything about ages and sex of children. You sound like circumstances are difficult. You know your children and your circumstances
"best for the interests of the children"
Is for you to pull together as a family and support each other of course. You won't find that online.
I believe you are right, Roth. There is a Belgium law that states from a certain age, children of different sexes need to have separate bedrooms. Sadly, I cannot easily find this documentation online but it was discussed during a course I did on Civic Integration into Belgium, run by "Agentschap Integratie en Inburgering"
I do not understand the problem. You have a 1 bedroom apartment so there is a living room too. You therefore have 2 sleeping rooms. You sleep in the room with the child of the same sex.
