Laptop - where best to buy?

Question

Where's the best place to buy a laptop (MediaMarkt, Germany, online stores..)? I'm looking for HP/Sony/Dell. Does it make sense to wait for summer sales or only older models are sold at dscount? Thanks!

J

No - it makes no real sense to wait. I like MediaMarkt in Brussels, as you can usually talk to someone in EN/FR/NL who is up on the current range that they have in the shop, and can advise accordingly.

Watch out for the keyboard layout. BE, NL, UK and DE all have different keyboards. If you can live with that, fine. But it rules out shops in DE for me.

I bought a Dell Inspiron online a few years ago. They sell off laptops at discount which have been ordered but not eventually bought so the software can vary according to what the original purchaser wanted. I was in the UK at the time so can't say whether they deliver to BE.

I have always used Dell online to order personal computers and have been very satisfied with the price and delivery. The only issue I have is that if you buy a Dell printer (which often comes for next to nothing when ordering a computer) then you have to order the print cartridges through them and they won't put the cartridges in your post box, you have to sign for them.

I used http://www.laptopshop.be/ in Antwerp to buy an Acer. Ordered by phone and they delivered to Brussels in a day or so. You can order online but I preferred to call as I was afraid of getting an AZERTY or Dutch version of Windows 8 by default.
