last minute holiday project for newly single

Question

Hi Everyone,
My husband and I just separated by mutual consent this month. He's taking our 3 kids on holiday for 3 weeks in August and I'm at a loss how to get thru' this time alone for the first time in so many years. I would like to get away one or two weeks during that time in order to get some fresh ideas/ a new start. Do any of u have any ideas on what i could do- where I could go as a single (maybe a retreat somewhere or helping out on a voluntary project …)? All suggestions more than welcome…Tx in advance

For what it's worth, don't do something alone, and although I've been on many retreats, I wouldn't suggest that either for you at the moment, as you'll just be thinking about your kids all the time. Personally, I think you should go on a course or activity of some sort. Cookery, sports, lecture tour, or something that'll keep you occupied. You'll also meet people. Google "singles activity holidays" and you'll find something. There's a lot more choioce in the U.K. market, so you may have to travel from there.

There are quite a number of activity holidays which you can do as a single, do check out the website below :-

Personally, I have gone on a week-long holiday last summer to southern France for an immersion French course - living with French people and going to school in the morning to learn the language. it certainly was a very interesting time, and you won't be all by youself as well. I have made a few new friends there and we hang out after class etc.

If you prefer to do something quieter, do look up some of the yoga holidays, or yoga/surf etc. This one in particular is a new small set up but has a good programme. You will also meet some people and some of the activities are very fun. You can check this out at :-
