Question

To save me traipsing round Brussels, by any chance does anyone know of an exchange agency where I might be able to get some Lats. Ddon't need much - just to cover arrival there but my bank (BNP Paribas Fortis) does not deal with Lats and cannot provide. Many thanks

Just go to the first banking machine at Riga airport when you arrive.

Or travel only after Jan. 1st when they have joined the Euro. ;-)

Well thanks but trip already booked and I know I could get money at the airport but I like to have a bit of cash on me when travelling.

How about phoning the Latvian embassy? You never know someone there might simply be happy to exchange for you from Euro or they'd know where to exchange currency.

Any branch of any major bank can help you as long as you warn them in advance (couple of days).
