Question

Hi all
I am a student and a signed a one year lease for a room in a house with a landlord. In my lease it was clearly stated that either party may cancel by giving 30 day notice period. My landlord doesnt want to return the deposit. I think she never registered this lease so its not actually legalised.

Any advice to get my deposit back ?

Although your lease says that either party may cancel by giving a 30 day notice period, does it also say that the landlord must then return the deposit? It would be a very generous contract if there was no penalty if you choose to leave early.
