leaving contract
The normal notice period for leaving a contracted job is 3 months in Belgium. How does this apply to a teaching contract? Does the 3 month notice apply? I have been offered a full time language teaching job but there is some chance I may be unable to continue. So I would like to know what is the rule for terminating (or do teaching contract not allow this?) Also, if the 3 month rule applies is it from the time I sign in April, or from the first date of work which is in September? Thank you for any information.

Before September, you can cancel the contract at any time, as it hasn't started yet.
There are new rules from 2014. You would have to work there for 8 years before you need to give 3 full months notice.

You may want to check what kind of contract you have - a lot of schools don't hire teachers on a teaching contract, but rather as an employee - different rules apply depending.
s of you have been offered work and say you will take it up but them don't you may well leave who ever offered you this in the lurch. It's not clear from what you say if the job is at a language school or a school. If it's the latter then I'm not clear in the UK it's required to finish at the end of a term period as a rule. If you don't think you can do this job simply don't accept it. Sounds like you want to have your cake and eat it at the same time to me.
